What does it matter?
What does it matter whether a man dies at thirty or at seventy?
The world has enough food for 7 billion people. The world has enough roofs for 7 billion people. The world is not driven by greed, it is driven by envy.
And what if we colonize the galaxy? And what if we conquer the universe? And what if we can do anything we want, go wherever, go whenever? And what then?
And what of your empire you build here on Earth? And what of being passionate about real estate? What of value and building and intellectual stimulation?
It is a good lesson, though often a hard one, for a man, to step outside of the narrow circle in which his claims are recognized, and to find, just how utterly devoid of significance, beyond that circle, is all that he achieves, and all that he aims at.
And what of reading? Philosophy? An hour of pain is worth all the philosophers put together. And of biographies? Motivation? Don't make me laugh. Being human? We're getting somewhere. Sci fi? Imagination and pleasure. Though, stop living in another world! Will you get there and read about yet another?! THIS is the one you have! But of the classics: The reading of all good books is like conversation with the finest men of past centuries.
What will we all do then? When all is said and done.
One day, everyone will know what automorphic forms are. Ordinary phones will be able to calculate general solutions to Einstein's Field Equations. We'll have conquered everything. We'll be able to control any and everything. For all time. Everyone will have motivation. Everyone will have willpower. We will all embrace the grind. We will all invest in the SP500. We will all lock in. Everyone will marry their high value partner. We'll all work remotely in Bali.
